Privacy policy

The short version: we collect as little as possible, we do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics, and we never sell your data. Here is exactly what we store and why.

Who we are

appsgit (appsgit.com) is a directory of open-source, self-hosted apps. For any privacy question or request, email info@appsgit.com.

What we collect

  • Newsletter subscribers: your email address, the page you signed up from and the sign-up date. Used only to send the newsletter.
  • Contact and sponsorship messages: the name, email address, subject, message and chosen plan you send us. Used only to reply and, for sponsors, to arrange a placement.
  • App submissions: the repository URL, your optional email address and note. Used to review the app and tell you when it is listed.
  • Hashed IP addresses: when you submit a form, we store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address to limit abuse (for example, five submissions per hour). The hash cannot be turned back into your IP address.
  • Outbound click counts: when you follow a link to GitHub, an app website or a hosting provider, we add one to a daily counter for that link. No personal data is stored with the count.

Cookies and tracking

We do not set tracking or advertising cookies and do not run third-party analytics or ad scripts. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.

Third parties

  • Cloudflare hosts the site and our database. It processes requests (including IP addresses) to deliver pages and protect against attacks.
  • GitHub serves app avatars and repository preview images, so your browser requests those images directly from GitHub's servers.
  • Hosting partners such as Hetzner, DigitalOcean, PikaPods and Hostinger receive you as a visitor when you click an affiliate link. Their own privacy policies apply from that point.

How long we keep data

Subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages and submissions are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Rate-limit records expire after one hour. Daily click counts are kept as aggregate statistics.

Your rights

You can ask us to show, correct or delete any personal data we hold about you, and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with the link in every issue. Email info@appsgit.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be announced in the newsletter. See also our terms of use.
