How it works

From GitHub repo to running app in three steps

  1. Step 1: Find

Search by name, task or the SaaS product you want to replace. Every listing links straight to its GitHub repository.

  2. Step 2: Compare

Weigh stars, recent commits, releases, license and Docker support side by side, so you pick a project that is alive.

  3. Step 3: Deploy

Follow a step-by-step Docker guide on your own server, or launch it on a managed host in a couple of clicks.

What is appsgit?

appsgit is the app store for GitHub: a curated directory of open-source apps you can host yourself. Each listing shows GitHub stars, recent activity, license, Docker support and the commercial products it replaces, so you can choose and deploy with confidence.

Is everything here free?

Yes. Every app listed is open source and free to self-host, and browsing appsgit is free. Some projects also sell an optional hosted or enterprise plan, and you pay your own server costs if you run them on a VPS.

How do I deploy an app?

Most apps ship a Docker image: install Docker on a Linux server, copy the app's docker compose file, set its environment variables and run docker compose up -d. Our deploy guides walk through each step, including a domain and HTTPS.

How are apps ranked?

Lists are ranked by real GitHub signals: total stars for Most starred, and commits in the last 12 months for Trending. Data is refreshed from the GitHub API daily. Sponsored placements are always labelled and never change organic rankings.

How do I get my app listed?

Submit the GitHub repository through the submit form. Any open-source, self-hostable project with a working install path and recent activity is eligible, and listing is free.

How do I sponsor a listing?

Choose a Featured listing, a Homepage spotlight or a Newsletter sponsorship on the sponsor page, or email info@appsgit.com. Sponsored apps get a clear label and premium placement for the period you book.
