Xcode issue : Could not locate device support files.

Currently I have been working in Xcode version 8.1. I just wanted to run my app in iPhone 6 that has OS version iOS 10.2.1.

 

Why you should get this error

This is because of incompatibality issue.  You are trying to run your App on top of incompatible iOS Version.

Could not locate device support files.

This iPhone 6s is running iOS 10.3.1 (14E304), which may not be supported by this version of Xcode.

To Fix iPhoneX issue (11.1)

Could not locate device support files on iPhone X (11.1) with Xcode Beta (9.2 9C32c)

 

Follow these step by step methods to Run your device,

  1. Download the DiskImageFile
  2. Move the downloaded folder (11.1 (15B93)) into /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
  3. Quiet the Xcode.
  4. Disconnect the Device.
  5. Start the Xcode and Run App in your device.

To Fix iOS 10.3.1  issue Without updating/downloading Xcode

Follow these step by step methods to Run your device,

  1. Download the DiskImageFile
  2. Move the downloaded folder (10.3 (14E269)) into /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
  3. Quiet the Xcode.
  4. Disconnect the Device.
  5. Start the Xcode and Run App in your device.

 

 

Fix iOS 10.2.1  issue Without updating/downloading Xcode

Follow these step by step methods to Run your device,

  1. Download the DiskImageFile
  2. Move the downloaded folder (10.2 (14C89)) into /Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
  3. Quiet the Xcode.
  4. Disconnect the Device.
  5. Start the Xcode and Run App in your device.

The above workaround should work for 8.2 versions and the above. If the above solution didn’t work in your pc, put your issue in comment section, we will discuss.

 

Download DMG file

Try not to update the Xcode from Mac App store. It is damn slow. To download Dmg files and other Xcode related files visit developer.apple.com/downloads

Appstore Update is Slow

Never update Xcode via Appstore. It’s damn slow, If you try to update your Xcode using Appstore, It might take hours and hours but if it get stuck, you have to Clean Appstore cache and restart it again.

 

Why you should download DMG ?

if you can download the latest version of Xcode and update your testing device with latest version available, you will not get any issues like above. Its reliable and you can imagine the how long it will take to download.
