# stalemap (MCP server)

> stalemap is an MCP server that adds developer tools to AI assistants such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor. Tells coding agents which npm dependencies changed after their training cutoff, and what changed. It has 103 GitHub stars, is released under the MIT license and runs locally with npx -y stalemap.

Coding agents learn libraries from training data that stops at a cutoff date. When your project pins newer versions, the agent writes code for the old API: maxSteps against AI SDK 7, requirederror against zod 4, middleware.ts against Next 16.

## Environment variables

- `STALEMAP_MODEL`: Model ID the agent runs as (e.g. claude-sonnet-5-5), for its training cutoff. Detected from agent settings if unset.
