# Arxiv MCP Server (MCP server)

> Arxiv MCP Server is an MCP server that adds tools to AI assistants such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code and Cursor. Search arXiv papers, download full text, semantic search, citation graphs, and alerts via MCP. It has 3,197 GitHub stars, is released under the Apache-2.0 license and runs locally with uvx arxiv-mcp-server.

A local MCP server for agent literature work. The differentiator is original-LaTeX section reads, BibTeX from arXiv metadata, and topic watches. Papers stay on disk. The working loop is paper ID → outline → one section → citations. Search is optional.
