# Nheko (open-source chat app)

> Nheko is a free, open-source chat app for Windows, macOS and Linux. Desktop client for Matrix using Qt and C++20. It has 2,507 GitHub stars and is released under the GPL-3.0 license. Its source code is on GitHub at Nheko-Reborn/nheko.

The motivation behind the project is to provide a native desktop app for [Matrix] that feels more like a mainstream chat app ([Element], Telegram etc) and less like an IRC client.
