# Mpc Qt (open-source media player)

> Mpc Qt is a free, open-source media player for Windows and Linux. Media Player Classic Qute Theater. It has 1,104 GitHub stars and is released under the GPL-2.0 license. Its source code is on GitHub at mpc-qt/mpc-qt.

Media Player Classic reimplemented with Qt and libmpv. [MPC-HC][mpc-hc] (Media Player Classic Home Cinema) is considered by many to be the quintessential media player for the Windows desktop. MPC-QT (Media Player Classic Qute Theater) aims to reproduce most of the interface and functionality of MPC-HC while using [libmpv] to play video instead of DirectShow.
