# CompactGUI (open-source gaming app)

> CompactGUI is a free, open-source gaming app for Windows. Reduce the space taken up by games and programs on disk by using native Windows APIs. It has 8,967 GitHub stars and is released under the GPL-3.0 license. Its source code is on GitHub at IridiumIO/CompactGUI.

CompactGUI transparently compresses your games and programs reducing the space they use without affecting their functionality. It works directly with the Win32 API to achieve the same thing as the native compact.exe command-line tool available from Windows 10 onwards.
